O.D. Lavrentovich received his Ph.D. (1984) and Doctor of Science (1990)
degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1992 he
joined the Liquid Crystal Institute as a Senior Research Fellow and became an Adjunct
Associate Professor of Physics. He has been an Associate Professor of Chemical Physics
since 1994. Lavrentovich held visiting appointments at the University Paris-Sud,
University P. et M. Curie, University Denis Diderot in France and the University of
Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is Membership Officer of the International Liquid Crystal
Society Scientific interest include topological defects and patterns, surface- and
light-induced phenomena; electrooptics of liquid crystals. |
